2021: The Year of Restoration

By Evangelist Aisha Namuli
The year 2020 was undoubtedly a boisterous and highly unusual year. On the positive side, however, it was a year that drove many of us to focus on that which matters most. After learning to focus in 2020, 2021 will regenerate our spirits, bringing us closer to God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ.

The modern times in which we live demonstrate that our most significant responsibilities are to rest in the secret place of the Most High God, seek Him in spirit and truth, and receive His promises through scripture as sons of God. This year, consider putting aside and forgetting that which did not work out in 2020. Disregard what went wrong in any given aspect of your life and ignore any distractions or confusions that you face—they will not determine the outcome of 2021.

In 2021, focus on the blessed surety of the new covenant of God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. Appreciate His great love, goodness, rich mercies, and faithfulness each day. This year, trust that your life will be led to a place of spiritual and physical restoration through the help of the Holy Spirit. Of course, for us to attain such restoration, we must first understand what it means.

What is Restoration?

Restoration is a process through which all believers receive what has been stolen from them and what has been diminished in their lives. Under the grace covenant, we live and walk in a blessed covenant. The grace covenant restored a relationship between God the Father and man through the completion of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. As believers, we must hold on to this promise today—when we believe the promises in the Word of God, we inherit the eternal promises in our lives.
1 Peter 1:3 (NKJV)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. In the scriptures, we are reminded of how the goodness and mercies of God follow us.”
This means that the perfection, excellence, uprightness, and grace of God will—each day—find a believer whose heart remains positioned in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Under the grace covenant, believers are not condemned or judged by God the Father. Jesus Christ restored man’s righteousness when He was delivered on the cross for man’s sins, trespasses, transgressions, offenses, and iniquities. Today, we are identified as sons of God, living in redemption, salvation, freedom, liberty, and righteousness as gifts of grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must stand on the promise of justification by faith. There are two ways in which God the Father—through His Son Jesus Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit—will restore your life this year: spiritual restoration and physical restoration.

Spiritual Restoration

Did you know that a lack of knowledge of the excellence of the Word of God can lead one to miss out on their heavenly inheritance? Such a lack of knowledge can also prevent one from believing that God the Father predestined them to receive eternal forgiveness in life. When we listen to worldly information, we are only feeding our minds, souls, and spirits with man’s perspectives and philosophies. However, the more we feed our minds, souls, and spirits with the Word of God—which is the bread of life, Jesus Christ who came in flesh and dwelt among us—the more we think and act how God the Father wants us to think and act. Child of God, the answers to humanity’s economic, social, and political dilemmas are written in the Word of God.
Colossians 2:8 (NKJV)
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
  • Renewed Mind
We must adopt a renewed mind toward how we perceive ourselves. If you know and believe, you are forgiven forever. As a believer, you will not feel the condemnation and judgment by God the Father. If you know and believe that you were healed through Jesus Christ’s stripes and beatings, you will live redeemed, healed, delivered, and made whole.
Philippians 3:9 (NKJV)
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.
In Zechariah 10:1, man is instructed to ask God for rain in the season of showers. As a result, everyone who asks bears much fruit in their lives. ln the spiritual realm, these are blessed times. For any person ready to receive in this season, God’s restoration is ready for those with a receiving heart.
  • Regenerated Spirit and Soul
Spiritual restoration was rendered to man through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Man was justified forever through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, as sons of God, we walk justified and not condemned in life because of the one sacrifice at the cross, which paid all sins and offenses. Your newness of life in Jesus Christ cannot be condemned—but rather regenerated—in the Holy Spirit.
Roman 5:1–2 (NKJV)
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Physical Restoration

Beloved, did you know that everything you have ever needed or will ever need was supplied for you at the cross? Your financial breakthrough, healing, prosperity, success, marriage, and children are provided through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Grace supplied all of our needs according to the riches of God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ. We must allow the Holy Spirit—the Helper from God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ—to lead, instruct, and guide all of our decisions, choices, desires, and passions this year. When we accept help from the Holy Spirit, He searches our hearts and motivations, leading us to the right position to receive from God the Father.
John 14:26 (NKJV)
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
There are three significant ways to acquire physical restoration through the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • Listen Your Way to Restoration
Take time to listen to the Word of God each day. Listen to sermons rooted in the message of grace and truth. In 2021, actively allow yourself to be reminded of the great love and unending goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Word of God restores and delivers all who listen from oppression and destruction.
Psalm 107:20 (NKJV)
“He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.”
The gospel of grace unveils both the Prince who gives peace and a joy that the world cannot provide today. The Word of God sanctifies, marks, and manifests in us the promises in the scripture, such as prosperity, blessings, health, rest, peace, and wholeness. Jesus Christ will continuously give you a positive expectation of the goodness in the promises of God in this troubled world, where there is no hope. As there is so much going on around the world today, resulting in the prevalence of disturbing information, one’s emotions can be fatigued and dominated by what they receive from negative news. Learn to protect your heart and mind from the negativity of the modern world. Wake up and tune in to the Word of God, which brings spiritual restoration and, in turn, physical restoration through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 4:20–24 (NKJV)
“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;  For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you."
  • Believe that the Promises of God Are for You
This year, by the grace of God, we must believe and receive what was promised to us in the Word of God. For the heavenly promises to manifest in our lives, however, we must first believe them to be true and speak the promises. We must also live in the Spirit, be led by the Spirit, and walk in the Spirit for the heavenly promises to manifest. Beloved, keep your eyes placed on Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of faith—the supplier, giver, and source. Because Jesus Christ bore all things at the cross so that the sons of God would have health and wholeness, let Him be the “rock and strength” of your life in 2021. This year, take a step to rely on Him as your fulfillment, satisfaction, and contentment. A great example of such reliance is Abraham, who believed and was, in turn, provided with righteousness.
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.”
  • Speak the Promises of God in Your Life
This year, pray in the promises of God written in the scriptures for every aspect of your life. Search for the scriptures that speak to the situation or need in your life and start to pray, trusting that the Lord will bring that Word to pass in your life. When we learn to pray for God the Father’s promises, we will learn to trust and have faith that what He promised will manifest in our lives. God wants us not only to believe but also to say what we believe.
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV)
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”
Furthermore, meditate on the promises of God written in the Word of God. As long as you speak the Word of God, continue to take time during the day to meditate on the Word of God. This will enhance your mental status and physical wellbeing. Our words are seeds of faith. What we speak comes into life and, in turn, determines the manifestations of our lives.
